ZitatWintermute Engine Development Kit is a set of tools for creating and running graphical “point&click” adventure games, both traditional 2D ones and modern 2.5D games (3D characters on 2D backgrounds).
ZitatAdventure Game Studio allows you to create your own point-and-click adventure games, similar to the early 90's Sierra and Lucasarts adventures. It consists of an easy-to-use editor to create your games, and a run-time engine to play them.
I agree. The 2D style would also be perfect for creating the style we need. Flash was mentioned but i think it's too basic to be taken seriously. Maybe some idea's could be tested in flash before moved to a different engine though?
Toonstruck's original Engine was: Legend of kyrindia's engine, it was full of bugs they took extra 18 months to finish developing the game catching the bugs.
abut the (Adventure Game Studio) i think its used in seirra games only.Lucasarts uses the scummVM engine.
There are still bugs in toonstruck now. If you played the game 20 times like me and don't need to work stuff out you can just do the puzzles. but when i did it last time i did something in a weird order and i couldn't progress. Which led to a bsod somehow when i entered the bakery... strange people...
like gos said adventure game studio allows you to make games at sierra style, with a bar at the down side with icons of the actions (open, pick up...) and you inventory. That's not Toonstruck style, but I don't know if that could be solved by programming.
I also remember anothe program: adventure maker. Very simple and intuitive but maybe useful, what do you think?
