Interests I'll give anything a chance, even if it's "over my head" or just plain strange. I always liked things like art, antiques, classical music -- some people say I'm actually a stuffy old man in disguise. But I also like old '80s video games, the adventure games I got 10-20 years ago, and a few game shows. Basically, whether it's an opera or a video game, I like anything that's somehow unique, clever, fun or just nostalgic.
How did you hear from the Forum? I heard about the main Toonstruck 2 project page from a friend of mine who composes music for fan-made adventure games.
Why are you interested in this project? Once you've played Toonstruck, how can you not want a sequel? (Unless you have no sense of humor.) And this project clearly has huge potential.
What can you do for our project? The short answer is I am good at editing and script/dialogue revisions. I correct things grammatically, but I also try to make things sound more interesting and/or clever. I think that this could be useful in both the game itself and in related content (like the Web site).
I have a way with words, especially as an editor. That's my occupation. I take people's writings and help make them better. But I don't just do editing for grammar and correctness. I point out when something doesn't make sense, or needs to be explained differently, and so on. I rewrite sentences to be more interesting, more clear, etc.
I also work with a friend of mine who writes and directs plays. I help her with script and dialogue revisions. I'm a writer, and I have a good sense of wordplay, for example, so I often point out a scene or a line of dialogue, and will say something like, "This line would be really funny if you wrote it like this..." or "This scene would be more interesting if so-and-so happened..."
Optional / Occupation, Graduation, sex, perhaps more personal Information I think the gender's pretty obvious. ... Other than that, I graduated, at the top of my class, from four-year university with one degree in Communication (mostly writing) and one in English and Literature. Like I said, I'm an editor by occupation, though I do a lot of writing on the side. I've been an editor for about six years. With my theater friend, I've worked on plays with her for about three years.
All in all, I know I talk really wordy, but if you'd like to have me on board, I'll be glad to help out. I think you've got a really ambitious project going here. I've played adventure games since they were text-only, and they just don't make games like Toonstruck any more. But this project just might change that.
