" WARSAW Blake Swihart Jersey , Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday started his two-day visit to Poland by meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Belweder Palace in Warsaw.
Stoltenberg first met the Polish president for a one-on-one discussion, which is to be followed by a plenary meeting, where the president would be joined by Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski, head of the National Security Bureau Pawel Soloch and head of the Presidential cabinet, Krzysztof Szczerski.
Security of NATO's eastern flank and the upcoming Zapad military exercises in Belarus were reportedly among the issues discussed.
Polish Press Agency quoted Soloch as saying that during the meeting President Duda stressed the significance of the security and safety of NATO's eastern flank, and the importance of the constant presence of allied troops in the region and discussed the Polish expectations regarding next year's NATO summit.
During his visit to Poland, Stoltenberg will also meet with Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, Foreign Minister Waszczykowski and Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz on Friday. He would also meet with soldiers from the NATO Battalion Battle Group in Orzysz, north-eastern Poland.
