"We need to awaken the public's curiosity in golf and bring fans closer to the sport, and the Olympic Games will certainly help with this," he told Rio2016.


"I have no doubt that interest will grow because of the Games and the sport will get the attention of many people."


Silva, who plays on the Sunshine Tour in southern Africa, is the firm favorite to secure Brazil's only slot in the men's tournament.


His nearest rival for the berth is Rafael Becker, currently ranked 662nd.

CAIRO, Nov 14 (Xinhua) -- Equatorial Guinea will replace Morocco to host the finals of Africa Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced in a statement on Friday.


According to the statement, the Executive Committe of CAF confirmed that the Orange Africa Cup of Nations 2015 will be held in Equatorial Guinea on dates agreed, and the national team of the host country is qualified for the final tournament.


The CAF announced last Sunday after a meeting of its executive committee in the Egyptian capital Cairo that Morocco will not host the 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations due to its request for postponement.


The top African football competition is scheduled to be held from Jan. 17 to Feb. 8 Air Jordan 12 Australia , 2015 and Morocco as host requested its delay over fears of Ebola outbreak that has reportedly killed more than 4,500 people in some West African countries.
