New Products: HYT Moon Runner Desert and HYT Moon Runner Ghost The HYT Moon Runner Ghost and HYT Moon Runner Desert watches blend innovative engineering with sophisticated craftsmanship, centered around the captivating theme of the lunar ocean and phases of the moon.
The Moon Runner watch presents a modern interpretation of the classic moon phase complication, with a carbon fiber and titanium case for the Ghost version and a black DLC-treated titanium case for the Desert version. These materials give the watch a stylish and modern aesthetic.
One of the most notable features of these watches is the hand-painted moon phase display. A hemisphere with a diameter of 11.90 mm has been meticulously drawn by MD'Art's master craftsmen, experts in the field. The painting process is done in the dark, and the work is illuminated from all angles by ultraviolet lights. This technology ensures that the moon phases accurately represent what the human eye sees during a solar eclipse or twilight. Each watch has a unique patina, with the Desert model featuring a sandblasted effect reminiscent of the grainy structure of the lunar ocean.
The Moon Runner is equipped with two titanium dials for the date and month, with the minute hand cleverly integrated beneath these discs, leaving only its triangular tip exposed. The watch's minute hand, month and day indicators, and retrograde hours are all coated with white Super-LumiNova® luminous coating to ensure the watch's legibility. The Mecca fluid mechanism characteristic of HYT watches drives the retrograde hour display, which passes beneath a domed crystal glass with anti-reflective coating.
Taken together, the HYT Moon Runner Ghost and Moon Runner Desert watches are beautiful examples of the fusion of innovative technology and traditional craftsmanship. With their limited edition status and captivating design elements, these timepieces are sure to appeal to collectors and enthusiasts looking for unique and extraordinary timepieces.
The Superwatch aesthetic presents a stark contrast between the engineering prowess of Fluid Time and the micro-painting of the moon phases, one of watchmaking’s most fantastic complications.
They are easy to spot with the naked eye on nights of a full moon, when the silvery disk rises majestically into the dark sky. Lunar ocean. That's how early astronomers imagined them, these gigantic masses of liquid that cover nearly a third of the Moon's visible surface, and the name caught on. Science may have revealed them to be plains of basalt rock, but our imagination knows better.
Thirteen of them can be observed from the Earth's surface, the most famous of which is Sea of Tranquility, where the first astronauts landed in July 1969. Less well known is that this figure also includes an ocean: located on the western edge of the planet. Located on the near side of the moon, Ocean of Storms is named for the superstition that the last quarter of the moon is associated with bad weather. It is also the largest "ocean" on Earth's satellite to date.
Today, Neuchâtel-based HYT is proud to present two new models featuring a unique take on the lunar ocean, named "Ghost" and "Desert".
The former sits at the center of a carbon fiber and titanium case, while the latter sits at the center of a black DLC-treated titanium case, with a new look for the moon phase in the Moon Runner collection. The approach is unique: HYT revisits this classic complication through a contemporary lens, allowing it to travel through time and space with its technological aesthetics and capturing the poetry of the sphere with miniature hand-painting. Notice how the delicate small craters on the surface attract the eye and inspire curiosity. The moon of the Moon Runner is surrounded by two titanium dials, indicating the day and month. The minute hand is subtly integrated below these two discs so that only the triangular tips are visible. It emits white Super-LumiNova® luminous light, which makes the watch clear and easy to read. The month and day indicators are engraved and enhanced with Super-LumiNova®. Retrograde time is rendered using HYT's signature Meca Fluid mechanism, conveyed under domed crystal glass with anti-reflective coating.
To create this exquisite miniature painting, HYT engaged the master craftsmen of MD'Art, experts in the field. The idea is to give free rein to artists with their hands, inspiration and talent. During the day's work, he will draw an 11.90mm diameter hemisphere in the dark and illuminate it from all angles with ultraviolet lights. That way, once night falls, every detail will faithfully represent what the human eye would observe during an eclipse or at dusk. In fact, the two moon facets exhibit two different patinas.
To ensure the necessary luminescence on both lunar surfaces, each crater has a white paint base, which is then coated with Super-LumiNova®. Then, in Moon Runner Desert, the artist, still working in the dark under ultraviolet light, will use beige pigments to achieve a sandblasted grainy structure that hints at the myriad details of the lunar ocean—a step that requires painstaking patience, dexterity, and brilliance. Skill. accurate. In Moon Runner Ghost, the aesthetic is sleeker and more minimal, reflecting different faces and perspectives in the twilight.
The two special edition bi-material straps also present a stark contrast: the "Ghost" version is made of rubber and black Alcantara; the "Ghost" version is made of rubber and black Alcantara; Simple atmosphere.
About HYT
Founded in 2012, independent Swiss watch brand HYT presents an original and unique method of measuring time developed entirely in-house: HYT's patented mechanical fluid technology combines a mechanical movement with a retrograde time indication, where fluorescent fluid is in one system cycle. capillary.
HYT was born more than ten years ago from the dream of introducing hydrodynamics into the display of time in mechanical watches. Today, the young independent Swiss watchmaker remains true to its highly individual philosophy of watchmaking art and has the ambition to delve deeper into the origins of time measurement thousands of years ago.
This led HYT to develop an avant-garde technology that uses the energy generated by the watch movement to drive hydrodynamics - Fluid Time.
Lucien Vouillamoz found the solution to this complex equation. It involves three key elements in the aerospace industry: one is a glass capillary with an inner diameter of 0.8 mm; the other is a glass capillary with an inner diameter of 0.8 mm. Second, a fluid module that is 10,000 times more water-resistant than a watch and can withstand 10 ATM; and third, a bellows system that is a quarter the thickness of a human hair. For more than ten years, HYT has continuously improved and increased the reliability of the system and movement. 2023 is an important milestone for HYT to enter a new stage of development and mature. HYT timepieces are produced in limited quantities, refined, complex, distinctive, elegant and luxurious. The course is designed to create uncompromising uniqueness.
