Finishing last season 6-10 will do that to any team, especially one with such a poor, long-standing reputation. So with the new flood of post-draft power rankings comes a wave of analysts expecting another rough season for the Lions. Here’s a look around at the most recent power rankings out there.NFL.com (Elliot Harrison)Lions: 20thHarrison dropped the Lions one spot after the draft, admitting that the Lions got a bonafide starter in T.J. Hockenson, whom he called “the premier tight end in the great college football marketplace.”However, he didn’t seem all that impressed with the rest of the class, giving Jahlani Tavai a big fat “meh.”Harrison’s rankings have Detroit as the worst NFC North team by far. The Bears (seventh), Vikings (12th) and Packers (16th) all rank in the top half.Bleacher Report (Entire staff)Lions: 23rd (High: 16, Low: 26)Bleacher Report’s team of three analysts put Detroit firmly in the bottom half of the league, with only one of the writers placing them in the top half... and just barely. Interestingly Danny Amendola Jersey , they write off the Lions’ offseason moves, saying “little has happened this offseason to indicate the team’s going to be substantially better in 2019.” Though they backtrack and mention the addition of Trey Flowers, Bleacher Report apparently doesn’t think too highly of the additions of Jesse James, Justin Coleman, and C.J. Anderson, among others. They, too, have the Lions last in the division, and mention it’s “by a sizable margin.” USA TODAY (Nate Davis)Lions: 28thWe’ve saved the best (worst) for last. Again, the talking point here has to do with their placing in the division.“DE Trey Flowers, TE T.J. Hockenson are quality pickups. But Detroit looks outclassed in NFC North, and QB Matthew Stafford can’t catch a break,” Davis writes. Harrison once again led the charge with a team-high six tackles.As a crew, the Lions held a Bears team that was averaging over 4.4 yards per carry and 128 rushing yards per game to just 54 rushing yards at 2.5 YPC. This was the seventh best run offense by DVOA standards, so this was truly an impressive performance.Kerryon JohnsonStats: 14 rushes, 51 yards, 1 TD; 6 catches, 38 yards Ricky Jean Francois Jersey , 1 TDSure, the rookie’s fumble was costly for Detroit, but for the rest of the game Johnson showed why he can be electric. With rushing lanes few and far between, Johnson made the first defender miss almost every single time he touched the ball. He was a first down machine, and although he didn’t hit 4.0 YPC, I think it’s fair to say he had an efficient game on the ground, all other factors considered. Quandre DiggsStats: 3 tackles, 1 pass defendedOn a day in which the Lions secondary was truly awful, even a mediocre performance stands out. Diggs was clearly the most talented defensive back on the field for Detroit and he showed why he’s still a fierce defender is the run and short passing game: He also had a nice pass breakup in the end zone, which was one of just two on the day for the entire Lions defense.Kenny GolladayStats: 6 catches (13 targets) Levine Toilolo Jersey , 70 yards, TDWith Golden Tate gone, it’s starting to look like Kenny Golladay will assume the majority of targets—not Marvin Jones Jr. Golladay wasn’t particularly efficient with his looks, but he did make a couple of really nice grabs on Sunday, including this one: Matt PraterStats: 1/1 FG (52 yarder), 1/1 XPPrater lost the “How many times can you hit the upright?” contest 4-0, but a 52-yard field goal at Soldier Field is no easy task, and he deserves some props.
