Other » Mic Not Picking up sound

hello,

I know for a fact the mic I am using works because it works just fine when plugged into my phone and yet it wont pick up sound when plugged into my new tower I bought from a friend. He never had this issue and when I go into sound devices it is set to default device, I can even hear sound through it its just the mic not working, hoping someone can help because I am stumped
