Connected HDMI cable to PS3 there is sound but no picture...?

hello,

I have just bought a 40inch Samsung Plasma TV i have also got a PS3 i changed the settings on the PS3 to 1080p the same as my TV, no i cannot get into my ps3 there is sound but no picture, even when my hdmi cable is plugged in help what do i do.
