Every 180 took you further into fever pitch. At this ridiculous rate of heavy scoring - and Phil had two finishes of 167 and 160 - you just got carried away on a crest of a wave. I know the crowd did as well, along with everyone watching on television. The Power pullled away with a typical display of ruthless finishing It carried on like that until Lewis led 8-7 and then Taylor tapped the turbo, put on the afterburners, and ended up winning 16-9. The fact that Phil won quite easily on the scorecard did not detract from the greatest game of darts ever played on television. Phil himself said it was the best ever game seen on TV. He has played in some pretty amazing matches, so thats got to be the ultimate compliment, if the greatest of them all thinks that.Adrian ended up averaging 111 and Phil averaged 110, while Lewis had 18 maximums and Phil had 14. The combined 221 average of the two players has never been bettered. The quality and the relentless standard of it makes it the most memorable game ever played.
