He will once again be the 11th member of the practice squad and cannot be activated to the 53-man roster or released this season.Update: According to Bill Voth, the Panthers can place Obada on the 53-man roster this year. If they choose not to, he will have to clear waivers before he can be added to the practice squad. The Panthers can then use the IPPP exception to keep him as the 11th man on the practice squad, but then would not be able to add him to the 53-man roster at any point this season. Or maybe it was because of the hype around first-round pick D.J. Moore. Talks of Ron Rivera using veteran Torrey Smith circulated as well. But Curtis Samuel was not considered a big contender to be the No. 2 wide receiver for the Panthers this season. Right now, Samuel is pleading his case to be WR2 and he’s doing it loud and clear.Spending much of his offseason rehabbing, the second-year wide receiver has proved that his injury hasn’t slowed him down a bit. In the Panthers’ 25-14 preseason win over the Patriots, Samuel caught three-of-four targets for 58 yards bringing his preseason total to a team-high 166 receiving yards.
