Golden Nuggets: Are Colbert and Witherspoon good enough I must admit I had a warm and fuzzy feeling when I thought of our defensive secondary during the off season. While I was not convinced Jaquiski Tartt was a better strong safety than Eric Reid http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-deforest-buckner-jersey , I was pretty excited about the acquisition of Richard Sherman. The idea of him joining Ahkello Witherspoon and Adrian Colbert gave me the crazy idea that we were going to have a pretty solid secondary. I know both Witherspoon and Colbert have been banged up but I must admit I am pretty disappointed in them so far this season. Now we are getting articles about the possibility of them being replaced by guys like Greg Mabin and D J Reed. While I like both Reed and Mabin, I was hoping Witherspoon and Colbert could be part of something special. Perhaps they still can but unfortunately they just don’t look like the same players we saw at the end of last season.Maybe we blame it on the coaching? While I am not as quick as some to start passing around the blame, perhaps there are some things that Robert Saleh and Jeff Hafley could do to help make them more effective? Anyone have any ideas on this? Now onto the hot links:Garoppolo surgery ‘was a good repair, they’re very optimistic’Cam Inman49ers linebacking corps of the future emergingBrad AlmquistQuestions in the secondary abound ahead of Cardinals gameChris BidermanMike McGlinchey expects to play vs. CardinalsKyle MadsonJohn Lynch says Joe Staley will try to practice on FridayDavid BonillaRichard Sherman, Mike McGlinchey Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey White , and Weston Richburg return to practiceDavid BonillaWhy George Kittle and C.J. It’s looking more like a mid-ankle sprain. This is good. Fooch’s update (#1): Matt Maiocco is reporting the injury is a mid-to-high ankle sprain and Breida will undergo an MRI on Monday. Maiocco tweeted, “He may not play next week Aaron Burbridge Jersey , as the team wants to give it time to heal and not be something that bothers him throughout the rest of the season.”After losing both Jerick McKinnon and Jimmy Garoppolo to season ending injuries, one of the bright spots for the 49ers offense has been been running back Matt Breida. He led the league in rushing yards and yards per carry through he first three weeks. He has battled injuries throughout the first five weeks but came back and started the game facing the Cardinals with a bang, with 56 yards on eight carries giving him and average of seven yards per carry. In the last play of the first quarter a Cardinal defensive player landed awkwardly on Breida’s left leg. He limped off the field with a lot of assistance from the training staff and Kyle Juszczyk. Later, trainers taped up both of Breida’s ankles and he tested the stability of them near the bench area and looked to be wanting to get back into the game. He walked to the locker room during the second quarter without favoring his injured foot, but he never returned to the game. At first look http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-roger-craig-jersey , it appeared that the staff was looking at Breida’s knee. He explained that he didn’t know what was hurt at first because his leg was numb. He added that he always wants to go back into the game but that it’s a long season and they needed to think long term. Thankfully the x-rays came back negative and although he left the locker room in a waling boot, there is a possibility that he could return for the team’s Monday Nigh Match up in Green Bay.Kyle Shanahan on the toughness and ability: Breida on what the team has to do moving forward:
