The Carolina Panthers have named Jim Hostler as their new wide receivers coach. This follows reports from earlier this month that Lance Taylor would not return to the Panthers in 2019.Hostler has spent 18 seasons in the NFL prior to this season coaching across several positions in the passing game. His link to the Panthers’ staff is a brief cross-over with Norv Turner in 2006 C.J. Anderson Jersey , which makes him about the least familiar assistant the Panthers currently employ. His deeper connection is to wide receiver Torrey Smith, whom he coached for three years (2011-2013) at the start of Smith’s career. For reference, those Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2012.While his recent stint in Green Bay was unimpressive, Hostler’s experience molding young wide receivers into effective and threatening pieces of a passing game is intriguing. DJ Moore and Curtis Samuel are both still a little raw Russell Color Rush Shepard Jersey , but highly talented athletes whose futures will determine the potential of the Carolina Panthers’ offense. It is a shame that the Panthers didn’t bring home Steve Smith for this position, as we seriously suggested two weeks ago. However Hostler, as both a relatively new face and a proven coach, is no disappointment. The receiving side of the Panthers’ passing game is in good hands Julius Peppers Jersey , at least. The Carolina Panthers have signed former Tampa Bay Buccanneers kicker Chandler Catanzaro. He was part of a group of kickers they worked out last week after Graham Gano struggled in Detroit. This signing, however, is not due to a crisis in the team’s confidence of Gano.Instead, this follows Gano appearing on the injury report this week with a knee injury. Catanzaro Graham Gano Jersey , who was released from the Bucs this year following his accuracy struggles, is being described as “an insurance policy” while the Panthers evaluate Gano’s health. Catanzaro is a career 83% field goal kicker but has missed four extra points this season. He is not a guaranteed upgrade over Gano.To make room on their roster, the Panthers have sent 2012 second round pick Amini Silatolu to injured reserve. Silatolu was unable to make an impact this year in spite of the miles of significant injuries and struggles along the Panthers offensive line. His Panthers career is likely over at this point.
