LAGOS, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The Nigerian government has dismissed speculations of the nation's impending ban by world football governing body FIFA due to alleged government interference.


Minister of Sports Tammy Danagogo told reporters on Tuesday in Abuja, the capital city of the West African country that there was no threat of an impending ban by FIFA because it was aware of recent happenings in Nigerian football.


A Nigerian High Court on Wednesday in central north city of Jos had granted an order of interlocutory injunction restraining some Nigeria Football Association (NFA) members from running Nigeria's football the affairs forthwith.


The members included the then NFA Chairman, Aminu Maigari, as well as the association's board members Jose Cruz Jersey , and the NFA Congress.


Danagogo, acting on the court's directive had appointed Lawrence Katken, the most senior civil servant in the NFA, as the Acting Secretary-General, pending the determination of the suit.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian club Gremio are close to announcing a loan deal for Ecuador international defender Frickson Erazo, local media reported on Tuesday.


The 26-year-old Barcelona de Guayaquil centre-back is expected to sign with the Porto Alegre club until December, according to the Terra news portal.

ATHENS, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Archaeologists unearthed new findings on the Aegean Sea island of Keros during excavations in 2017, Greece's Culture ministry announced on Wednesday.


The findings reveal that locals in the early Bronze Age had far more sophisticated architectural and technical expertise than initially thought.


Keros is a small uninhabited island of 15 square km, located about 10 km south of Naxos, belonging to the Cyclades islands group. It is known as an important site for the Cycladic civilization which flourished around 3200-2000 BC.
