NICOSIA puma rihanna creepers velvet , July 19 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations on Wednesday moved fast in a bid to preserve the UN-led negotiating process for the reunification of Cyprus following the collapse of an international conference 12 days ago in the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana.
A Cypriot government spokesman announced that UN Secretary General's special adviser on Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, will be back in Cyprus on Monday, for meetings with the Cypriot community leaders. Before coming here, he will brief the UN Security Council in New York.
Eide will talk with Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, who represents the Greek Cypriot community, and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, to urge them to reflect seriously during a cooling off period and return to negotiations.
The move comes amid clear indications that the UN rejected a suggestion by Turkey that a Cyprus solution must be sought outside the UN parameters.
In remarks to the press in New York, Eide said the Security Council is unanimously in support of the reunification of Cyprus.
"We, as United Nations, have only one set of parameters which leads to the reunification. This is something which is soundly based on many years of support of this procedure by the Security Council," Eide told a Turkish journalist who asked about Turkey's idea of preparing a new road map on Cyprus.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, on a visit to northern Cyprus on Tuesday, said the United Nations procedure could not go on forever and that from now on there will be other procedures on Cyprus.
The Security Council is set to approve a resolution extending for a further six months the mandate of the UN peace force in Cyprus, the longest UN peace operation ever, in which it will also urge the parties in the Cyprus dispute to return to the UN-led process.
The United Nations was not the only side to distance itself from Turkey's suggestion.
Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci said in a televised speech that the Turkish Cypriot will not shake off their responsibility to work for building a peaceful future in a Cypriot state based on UN parameters. These include a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation in which Greeks and Turkish will share power with political equality.
"Our vision is very clear to become one of the equal partners who, by finding a solution, will together (with Greek Cypriots) unite Cyprus," said Akinci.
Turkish Cypriots will celebrate on Thursday Turkey's military operation. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim is scheduled to fly to northern Cyprus to inspect a military parade and meet with Akinci.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 and the Republic of Cyprus joined the EU as a divided country in 2004. Leaders of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots have been talking with each other for two years on how to reunite Cyprus.
Turkey occupied part of the territory of Cyprus in 1974 in reaction to a coup by the military rulers of Greece at that time, leading to one of the most intractable international problems and one of the longest issues on the UN agenda.

LIMA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Peru captain Paolo Guerrero will train alone in Argentina in a bid to maintain fitness as he sees out a doping ban ahead of this year's World Cup.
Guerrero said his Brazilian club Flamengo had prepared a training program for the 34-year-old at a private sports complex in the northern outskirts of Buenos Aires.
""I have been given a fitness plan which I'll carry out in Argentina without any distraction,"" Guerrero said. ""My aim is to train well.""
Guerrero was given a 12-month ban in December after testing positive for cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine following Peru's World Cup qualifier against Argentina in Buenos Aires on October 5.
The penalty, backdated to November, was halved by FIFA's appeal committee less than two weeks later.
He is due to return on May 3, just six weeks before Peru's first World Cup appearance since 1982.
But Guerrero's lawyers are taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in an effort to have the suspension annulled.
The former Bayern Munich player has denied using cocaine or drinking coca tea, claiming he was a victim of food or drink contamination.
The World Cup will be played in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15.
