CAPE COAST， Ghana， May 4 (Xinhua) -- Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama cut the tape to officially commission the newly-built sports stadium in Cape Coast， some 144 kilometers east of the capital Accra on Tuesday.


The multi-purpose sports complex was constructed by the China Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation with a Chinese government grant of 30 million U.S. dollars as a symbol to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Ghana diplomatic relations.


It has modern sports facilities which will enhance Ghana's capacity to host major multi-purpose international sports tournaments.


President Mahama described the edifice as Ghana's first truly multi-purpose stadium built with world class facilities.


He extended the appreciation of Ghana to the Chinese President and the people of China for the beautiful gift， which comes at a time that Ghana is seeking to expand its sports infrastructure to unearth talents.


"In this new stadium， we have all the equipment to train many of our athletes into world class champions，" he said.


The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Sun Baohong was confident that the stadium will further promote the development of sports in Ghana and stimulate the economic development of Ghana and Cape Coast in particular.


"It is a gift from the Chinese government and the people to our Ghanaian brothers demonstrating the deep sentiments between our two countries and peoples，" she said.

PHNOM PENH, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia predicts bright economic prospects in the coming year as a one-year post-election crisis has ended, government officials and businessmen said.


Finance Minister Aun Porn Moniroth said 2014 saw a great deal of effort, numerous struggles, and a great deal of patience to overcome difficulties and challenges both inside and outside the country.

"With the government's efforts and commitment, Cambodia can maintain stability, security, and good public order as well as ensure a high-level of economic growth, a low inflation rate, and remain attractive to investors," he said during a recent parliamentary session.


He said the country's gross domestic product (GDP) is forecast to grow by 7 percent to 16.9 billion U.S. dollars for 2014 and around 7 percent to 18.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2015.


"With this growth, GDP per capita is projected to hit 1,225 U.S. dollars in 2015, up 8.4 percent from 1,130 U.S. dollars in 2014," he said.


Cambodia's economic growth remains reliant on garment exports, tourism, agriculture, and construction, and, as with 2014, the inflation rate will be around 3.5 percent next year, the finance minister said.
